Good grief life has been happening. But I’m back and I’m still on an international kick. I ran into some trouble finding enough information on certain events to make a full-length post. So, I thought, why not just do a round-up of different countries? So here’s just a start. Finally.
Peru Police Use Teddy Bear, Capybara, Santa and Grinch Costumes to Catch Criminals in Viral Sting Operations
A Grinch, a teddy bear, Santa Claus, and a capybara walk into a bar. You might think this is the beginning of a joke. But these are actual costumes that officers in Peru were wearing to catch criminals in various stings.
On Valentine’s Day in 2025, a “capybara cop” surprised a suspect at their home before arresting them wearing the costume.

It was part of the anti-drug trafficking operation’s “camouflage strategy.” Boy, I’ll say.
The National Police released video that showed the costumed officer holding a gift outside the suspect’s home in Lurin and then posing after making the arrest.
This same group also dressed up as a teddy bear on Valentine’s Day in 2024, Santa Claus for yet another raid in December 2023, and a Grinch costume in December 2024. Clearly they give Party City a lot of business.
Bihar Pond Disappears Overnight
We’ve already covered the Bihar Bridge theft in our last post. And… seriously, what is it about this place that makes people just want to take stuff? Now to be entirely fair, this pond wasn’t actually taken, but it was gone after all was said and done.
In its place was the understandably surprising appearance of a hut. Confused locals in the Darbhanga district called the police.

Amit Kumar, a police officer said “People say the pond was filled with soil within 10-15 days. The work was done only at night. Officials had visited the spot earlier and even seized some items.”
The “land mafia” is accused of filling the pond to take over the area due to rising land prices. They were long gone by the time police arrived.
Reactions
I mean yea, people had some things to say about these things, especially the Peruvian police’s creativity.

I can’t help but wonder why criminals are repeatedly opening doors to giant stuffed animals without any bit of suspicion, whatsoever.

That must be some nice free publicity.

I think we could also call this “reverse swimming pool installation.” Sounds much funnier than filling something up with dirt.

At this rate Bihar is one missing traffic circle away from becoming an elaborate magic trick
