The Story
On Jun-25-2020, Kevin Wise (26) of Slidell, Louisiana, decided to take a dip in the indoor aquarium at Bass Pro Shop in Bossier City, Louisiana, USA. His reasoning? Tik Tok fame. Wise told KSLA-TV: “I said that if I got 2,000 likes I would jump in the tank. I got way more than that and didn’t want to be a liar.”

A local shopper named Treasure McGraw who was just “admiring the fish” happened to catch him in the act. Treasure said she noticed “a big splash” then her fiancé was like “somebody is in the tank”. She then noticed someone swimming and recorded Wise in the act.

Once Bass Pro Shop realized the 13,000 gallon aquarium would need emptying and cleaning, it filed a complaint the next morning to Bossier City police. Police charged Wise with simple criminal damage to property. He was released with a citation to appear in court.

In the aftermath, Wise claimed to have lost his job due to the incident and set up a GoFund Me to pay his fine and associated cleaning costs. He also discouraged other people from doing “spur of the moment” things as well.
Reactions
People were quick to point out what went wrong, including blaming the year and Tik Tok. Social media had jokes. The fish had questions. The police had paperwork.

2020 saw this and said, “Yeah, that tracks.”

Never liked TikTok anyway. Besides, the algorithm demands sacrifices. This one involved fish.

When you think you’re the main character but you’re actually just trespassing.

Wet, arrested, and a nice fine. I mean, at least have the money to pay for your antics.
